O Blogger tem novas funcionalidades

A more technical note on Blogger's implementation of WYSIWYG editing in the browser.:

"In an ongoing effort to lower the barrier to entry for self-publishing we've investigated features that can reduce the HTML knowledge required to post to a weblog. We've also been investigating ways to introduce greater stylistic control over post content to users. Additionally, there have been several efforts by competitors in our business domain (sometimes via third-party plug-ins) to introduce text-styling controls. So, there was a quite a bit of interest on our part in developing something."

O'Reilly Network: Open Source Paradigm Shift

O'Reilly Network: Open Source Paradigm Shift: "Paradigm shifts occur from time to time in business as well as in science. And as with scientific revolutions, they are often hard fought, and the ideas underlying them not widely accepted until long after they were first introduced. What's more, they often have implications that go far beyond the insights of their creators."

Seblogging turned two

Acho que nos podemos rir também :-)) Congratulations, Seb [research is always an ongoing project... but now instead of having "the camp note book" we have weblogs... were you not talking about etnographic studies ;-) ... Don´t know if you are going to find us, but we had to try. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.]
Seblogging: Seblogging turned two: "Just realized that on July 9th my Seblogging project turned two. My last post had the number 1382 within the Manila CMS. If I take away the pictures and some static pages I should be still beyond 1000 posts. No wonder my dissertation is not written yet and only a handful paper-based publications have my name on it. Do you think I should sue Userland if I am finally thrown out of academia? ;-) "

E-Commerce for Arts & Crafts

Podemos incorporar isto como ideia para o Workshop - Novas oportunidades... [já sabes o resto]E-Commerce for Arts & Crafts: "The Azerbaijan Country Gateway has recently launched Artsandcrafts.org, a website that sells cultural products from Azerbaijan. The e-commerce website is a core component for the business plan for the locally owned portal, a project supported by the Development Gateway. Aimed at serving Azerbaijan artisans and craftsmen who are often socially vulnerable, the project involved site visits to eight regions of the country to collect material for the online shop. About 400 products are now offered, with four products selling out in less than three months. The project was supported in part through a grant from the Embassy of Great Britain. AzDG recently partnered with the Republic of Georgia to sell its crafts on the portal. Discussions are under way with eight more Country Gateways to join the online shop."

Intranets and knowledge sharing

Robertson, J. (2004). Intranets and knowledge sharing. KM Column: "From a knowledge management perspective, weblogs harness the power of conversation (narrative) to convey messages (...) With weblogs being written in a first-person format, the voice of the author comes through clearly, thereby supporting the message with the reputation of the author.
As such, weblogs are increasingly being used by individuals, communities and companies to share knowledge across traditional boundaries."

A WEBLOG-BASED CONTENT ARCHITECTURE FOR BUSINESS

Dave Pollard: "As weblog tools become more powerful and flexible, open sourcing of weblog add-ons increases, and RSS and XML technologies advance and become standard, the justification for migrating centralized knowledge management systems to a weblog-based architecture will grow more compelling. In the meantime, leading-edge knowledge organizations need to be piloting and experimenting with such architectures, if they don't wish to be left behind."

Open Access

open access a danger to professional societies? @ Infosophy: Socio-technological Rendering of Information: "In the article, IEEE's Durniak makes the following unsubstantiated statement: 'Free open access runs the risk of destroying professional societies.'
One can do an extensive analysis to show that the above statement is not necessarily true. However, is suffices to note that commercial publishers are only one of the actors in the scholarly publishing cycle. As such, the totality of the functions performed by the commercial publishers can definitely be taken over by the professional societies themselves, or perhaps by a non-profit umbrella organization that would deal with scholarly publishing for various professional societies."
